Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA celebrates World Bike Day by delivering thirteen bikes to Ukrainian refugee children from the Svitanok Association

The Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA project wanted to join in the celebrations for World Bike Day, which has been celebrated every 3 June since 2018. On this occasion, the Contador Foundation initiative that promotes giving a second life to unused bicycles has delivered thirteen bikes to Ukrainian children under the tutelage of the Svitanok Cultural Association. In Ukrainian ‘Svitanok’ means ‘Dawn’.

This institution, based in Madrid’s Villaverde neighbourhood, has been working intensively with the Ukrainian community since 2013, the year of its creation, facilitating the social integration of immigrants of this nationality who travel to Spain.

This process is implemented through cultural activities such as plays and workshops. Svitanok has a very strong line of action in childhood, which it supports and supports even in processes of receiving medical treatment of different kinds.

From the first moment of the invasion of the Ukrainian territory and the attacks by the Russian army, the Svitanok Association has worked both to facilitate the reception of children and refugees and to send medical material and food to their country.

This is not the first Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA action linked to Bike Day. Back in 2021, fourteen bicycles were delivered to the work of the NGO olVIDAdos’ ‘Alas’ project with the residents of El Pozo del Tío Raimundo.
