Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA delivers 18 bicycles to the Eibar Sahara Elkartea association for its ‘Vacaciones en paz’ project

The Eibar Sahara Elkartea association received eighteen bicycles this Friday from Ángel López, head of logistics, as part of the Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA project promoted by the Contador Foundation, the Czech car company and the courier and express transport company SEUR.

The delivery took place at the institution’s facilities and this small fleet, which has been put together by the AMP Pinto crew, will be used to carry out sporting activities with children and young people from the Tindouz refugee camps in Algerian territory, who every summer are welcomed by families in the area to enjoy the summer period as part of the ‘Holidays in Peace’ (‘Vacaciones en paz’) programme.

For more than four decades, Eibar Sahara Elkartea has been carrying out intense work in favour of the Saharawi cause at different levels, from raising awareness of the living conditions of the refugees, whose number is estimated to be around 200,000 people in Tindouz, to sending different materials and organising welcome campaigns for young people.

The town of Eibar, where this association has its headquarters, has an intense and historical link with the world of cycling, both from a sporting and industrial point of view. Some of the main brands on the market have had their headquarters and production centres in Eibar, and its roads are frequented by both cyclists and the main professional and amateur cycling competitions. Eibar, in short, is one of the world’s cycling capitals and, through Eibar Sahara Elkartea and its projects, it also has an aspect of solidarity.
