Success of the first edition of the Granfondo Alberto Contador after the cyclist confirms his participation in the Tour de France

Alberto Contador took part this Sunday in the first edition of the Granfondo Alberto Contador, held in the Madrid town of Pinto. This first edition was a resounding success in terms of participation, as almost a fortnight ago the number of 500 participants was already reached, to which this year’s registration was limited. The route, which started and finished in Pinto, covered 150 kilometres along Alberto Contador’s usual training routes.

At the end of the race, the cyclist from Madrid announced his decision to take part in the next Tour de France. “I will be in the Tour de France”, he said to the journalists who came to Pinto this morning and who were not expecting the news.

Contador made a first test yesterday after finishing the Giro d’Italia on 29 May and said that his feelings “have not been as good as on other occasions”, but still assured that he will be at the start of the Tour de France, a decision that has been agreed with the team manager, Bjarne Riis.
