The rain and the cold marked a Alberto Contador March held in Cuenca with a thousand participants

This Sunday, 29 May, the 6th edition of the Alberto Contador Cycle Tour was held in Cuenca. Almost a thousand riders took the start of the race together with the rider from Pinto around 8:30 in the morning to face the 192 kilometres of route through the mountains of Cuenca, the longest route in the six marches that the cyclist from Pinto has organized to date.

In addition to the tough leg-breaking route, with uphill sections in the first kilometres of the race, the riders had to defy the difficult weather conditions. Some participants tried to continue despite the rain, wind and cold, but finally gave up.

The organisation’s forecasts indicated that the estimated duration of the race was 5 and a half hours to complete the course. And Contador, who took advantage of the occasion to finalise his preparations for the upcoming Criterium de Dauphiné Liberé (5-12 June), finished the ride with a time of 5:25:38.

After the Spaniard, the first riders to reach the finish line arrived one by one or two by two, as a result of the toughness of the course and the adverse weather conditions they faced.
