En Bici and Idemticos visit CEIP Pinar de San José in Madrid
The school year is approaching its final stretch and the number of pedagogical activities that go beyond the pure and simple teaching of subjects is increasing substantially; a very important moment to arouse the interest and attention of the students in the face of the extraordinary and the out of the ordinary.
Curiosity is inherent in childhood. The apprehension of new concepts, the acquisition of new skills, the discovery of new social realities from an integrating and unifying perspective are an important part of their maturation process towards adulthood. The children of today will be the citizens of tomorrow.
In this sense, the Pinar de San José Infant and Primary School in the Carabanchel district of Madrid welcomed the #EnBici and #Idemticos projects of the Contador Foundation to address the use of bicycles and the particularities of adapted cycling. Once again, Raúl Vallinot was the master of ceremonies and the boys and girls of the centre had the opportunity to learn how to ride a handbike.
“The pupils at this school are gifted in the sense that it is an inclusive school where pupils with and without disabilities coexist. The school community has developed this sensitivity naturally, and expressions such as “reduced mobility”, “motor difficulty”, “stump” are not new to them, they understand them perfectly well and understand their full meaning. When it came to trying out the bikes, in a gesture that I think was really nice, they always gave up their turn and gave priority to their classmates with disabilities to try them out first”, summarises Raúl Vallinot.
