Energy and vitality at the Nassica Shopping Center with a Saturday charity bike ride in favour of AMP

With the central square of the Nassica Shopping Centre as the centre of operations for all the activities and a route through the neighbouring Parque Lineal del Arroyo Culebro, this Saturday morning, 14 September, the first charity family bike ride was held to benefit the AMP Association and its programme of social projects. An initiative that has had the collaboration of the Contador Foundation and the support of the Getafe City Council, represented by the Councillor for Sports Francisco Javier Santos. The distance, just over three kilometres, was the least important thing; the important thing was to support the work of the AMP.

A hundred participants, including Idemticos project ambassador Carlos Javier Mozos (resident of Getafe) and a representation of the Plaza Éboli Cycling School, enjoyed a pleasant and fresh morning with the musical entertainment of an energetic batucada and various activities afterwards in Nassica. All participants received a cycling-themed riders’s bag (a musette of the professional cycling structure promoted by the Foundation) with several gifts.

The Bicis para la Vida by Škoda van, the Foundation’s project that collects donations of unused bicycles to be donated to social projects and groups at severe risk of social exclusion, will remain at the Nassica facilities for one more day. Parked there since last Saturday, during this week it has received up to ten very generous donations.

Henar García, head of the Foundation’s social area, says: ‘We are deeply grateful to both Nassica Centro Comercial and Getafe City Council for their enormous commitment to this unprecedented initiative. To have their help and encouragement has been wonderful. And to see how the girls and boys of the AMP Association have enjoyed the whole organisation process is absolutely priceless. AMP does an impressive job with a group that does not always have the resources or the support it should. We are extremely fortunate to be able to work side by side with Bikes for Life, and all the recognition and appreciation they receive will be of little value’.
