The Cycling Academies Race of the Contador Foundation 2024, a success of participation

More than three hundred riders, 189 in the federated races and 114 in the popular race, gathered this first Sunday of October on the circuit of the Avenida Juan Pablo II in the neighbourhood of La Tenería in Pinto to take part in a great morning of educational cycling as part of the seventh edition of the Race for Schools of the Foundation. Paratriathlete and para-cyclist Eva Moral, participant and close to a medal at the recent Paris 2024 Games and European Paratriathlon champion a few days later in the French town of Vichy.

With participants from Ávila, Cáceres, Badajoz, Cantabria, Ciudad Real, Jaén, León, Murcia, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Sevilla, Zamora and a very large representation of schools from the Community of Madrid, the most popular categories were the Infantil, with up to 66 cyclists, and the Alevín, with 48. Also noteworthy was the number of women present, with 37 riders between the different categories and 16 only in the case of the Infantil category.

The Escuela Más Vatios Club Ciclista Ciudad de Parla was the best structure in the overall computation of a day that crowned Héctor Cruz (Ciudad de Parla) and Marina Carpio (Ciudad de Parla) in the Alevín category. Matvii Henus (Diego Diez Cycling School) and Valeria Arcones (Club Ciclista Coslada) in Beginners. Luna Ávila (Academia Ciclista) and Hugo Navarro (Mariscos Castellar) in the highly competitive Children’s category. Cristian Martín (Escuela Plaza Éboli) and Alba Martín (Escuela Ciclista Samuel Villacastín) were the winners in the Promise category.


‘We are very happy with the participation’, says Álvaro García, director of the Plaza Éboli Cycling Academy, host of the last event of the school cycling calendar of the Madrid Cycling Federation. ‘It was a great morning and everything went very well’.

The seventh edition of the Alberto Contador Foundation Cycling Academies Race is possible thanks to the support of the Pinto City Council, the Plaza Éboli Shopping Centre, the bicycle company Aurum Bikes and Supermercados Froiz, a company that since March this year has a new centre near the circuit where the race takes place. In addition, the social work of Caixabank, the leading real estate company Grupo Egido, industrial supplies Grupo Cobsa, Fermisa graphic production, solutions and equipment for kitchens and bathrooms Discesur and the Emalú Coffee Bar also collaborate intensively with the organisation and celebration of the event.
