The Contador Foundation will collaborate with Team Gomur for the maturing of riders in the under-23 category
The under-23 structure sponsored by the Contador Foundation during the last eleven seasons ceases its trajectory and will not take to the roads in 2025, as announced last summer, but in the process of reorganization of the sports area of the Madrid institution did not want to leave aside the category. That is why a collaboration agreement has been reached with the Gomur Team, which was born with the idea of facilitating the accommodation of both U23 and U19 riders who face the jump of category in the future. A way of keeping riders in the orbit of the professional structure of the Foundation who are still in the process of training and maturing.
Fran Contador, team manager, describes this decision as strategic and explains: ‘It is a way of giving continuity to the young riders who, according to our criteria, need to continue their training in the under-23s, before making the step up to the professional ranks. They can achieve this maturity in the Gomur Team, a historic team that shares our training philosophy and values. The image it has offered over the last 15 years in the amateur field fills us with confidence that we will work with great trust with them’. Team Gomur’s general manager, Alejandro González, said: ‘We are motivated by this new collaboration. With the support of the Contador Foundation and the Polti Kometa team, we will be able to give our cyclists the tools and the experience they need to reach their goals and to be able to promote themselves towards professionalism, with the future objective that they can compete at the highest level’.
