Alberto Contador, with the ninety years of La Vuelta during the presentation of the 2025 edition
The route of La Vuelta 2025 was presented this Thursday in Madrid and among those attending the ceremony was Alberto Contador. The Madrid-born cyclist, three-time winner of the overall final of the race (2008, 2012 and 2014), was one of the protagonists of a gala in which, on the occasion of the ninety years (and eighty editions) that the race will celebrate during 2025, tribute was paid to all its champions.
Contador was not only one of the fourteen cyclists who took to the stage for this gesture, a vindication of the race’s onomastic heritage, but also one of those in charge of talking to the hosts of the event, the journalist Carlos de Andrés and the commentator Pedro Delgado, during the detailed presentation of the stages.
‘I think it will be a very attractive Tour for the spectator, with climbs and two time trials. It will be very beautiful and if it’s competitive, all the better’, explained the rider from Pinto. His contribution on the day with the finish on the Angliru, a stage where he won his last professional victory, and on the penultimate stage, the ‘fin de fiesta’ that will take the race to the summit of the Bola del Mundo, was especially relevant.
