Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort host again the first meeting of the Contador Foundation sports structures
The sports structures of the Contador Foundation, which in 2024 will compete under the name Team Polti-Visit Malta, have once again held their pre-season training camp at the Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort, a venue that has already established itself as their usual training base. First, during the Spanish bank holiday Puente de la Constitución, the youth training camp, which faces the challenge of a 2025 that is very different in its conception due to the disappearance of the U-23 team. Then, for ten days, it’s the turn of the ProTeam professional training squad and staff.
These training camps have become a tradition both at the end of the year and at the beginning of the following year, allowing the riders to work on their first stages of preparation before the competitive season. During their stay at these facilities, the riders have the opportunity to train on their bikes in an area with exceptional conditions, both geographically and in terms of infrastructure. Of course, the bike rides are complemented by work in the gym, technical talks and meetings with sponsors and the media.
Oliva, located in the province of Valencia and very close to the border with the province of Alicante, offers cyclists access to a network of roads that are perfectly adapted to their training needs. The area stands out for its varied orography, which includes mountain passes such as the Coll de Rates, the Vall d’Ebo or the Tollos pass, ideal for riders to test their endurance and skills on demanding terrain. This variety of routes allows cyclists to work on different aspects of their preparation, from climbing to flat riding, all in a unique natural environment and with excellent weather.
The infrastructure of Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort, which in recent years has established itself as the venue for the Gran Fondo Contador at the end of September, provides a great advantage with first class facilities for recovery and rest, essential for maintaining performance during the intense days of training. In addition, the climate of the area, with mild temperatures even during the winter months, favours a more productive concentration, allowing cyclists to enjoy outdoor training sessions without the restrictions imposed by other colder locations. Oliva has undoubtedly established itself as a perfect location for Team Polti Kometa’s pre-season training camps, a place where work and preparation are combined with the beauty of nature and the quality of its infrastructures. In 2024, a structure as powerful as Team Ineos, from the WorldTour category, has also joined this location.
