Davide Piganzoli, another rider from the Contador Foundation’s U23 team who will move up to the professional ranks in 2023
The Italian rider Davide Piganzoli will be the fourth rider of the U23 structure that promotes with a view to the next season to the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, the fifth one that will join the professionalism in 2023 if one takes into account the signing of Marcel Camprubí for the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team. Piganzoli joins Andrea Pietrobon, Javi Serrano and Fernando Tercero in a squad that already has confirmed also the signing of the Italian Simone Racani and the renewals of the Spanish Diego Pablo Sevilla and the Italians Alessandro Fancellu, Francesco Gavazzi and Giovanni Lonardi.
Piga has had an outstanding season, with victories in the overall of the Bidasoa Itzulia and in the time trial of the Italian Time Trial Championship in his category. In the Giro U23, the rider from Valtellina finished tenth for the second consecutive year and also had a great performance with the Italian national team in the Tour de l’Avenir, where he finished fifth. Piganzoli also came close to victory in two of the most prestigious races on the Spanish calendar that form part of the Spanish Cup, the Memorial Valenciaga and the Santikutz Klasika, finishing second in both. He also finished second in the extremely demanding French Tour Savoie Mont Blanc – Maurienne Classic.
