Great success of participants in the first Cycling Academies Race organized by the Fundación Alberto Contador
The first Cycling Academies Race organized by the Fundación Alberto Contador was held this Sunday morning in Pinto (Madrid) with a great success of participation. More than 300 boys and girls between 6 and 14 years took the start in the various races, which is double the usual number of cyclists who usually attend the races in the Community of Madrid.
In the federated categories, some qualifying rounds had to be held due to the high number of participants, coming from all over Spain, while there were also popular races (for children not enrolled in any cycling school) in all the training categories (Infants, Alevines, Beginners and Promises), which indicates the great interest of the event.
The Pinto City Council closed for the occasion the 1.800 metres long Tenería Circuit, very appropriate for races of this level and very safe for cycling.
Thanks to the support of sponsors and collaborators, all participants received a goody bag, plus a commemorative T-shirt and medal, as well as trophies for the first three finishers in each race.
Alberto Contador did not want to miss the event and, accompanied by his Trek-Segafredo teammate Jesús Hernández, was present at the trophy presentation, which all the winners took advantage of to get an autograph and a photo with their idols.
Alberto Contador thanked both the young cyclists and their parents for taking part in this first race of his Foundation and encouraged them to continue practising “one of the best sports there is to develop as people”.
In addition to posing with all the winners, Alberto Contador closed the event by posing on the podium with all the members of the Plaza Éboli Cycling Academy, which won the squad overall.
