Caravaca de la Cruz, the toughest Paralympic Cycling Championships in Spain ever held

The Murcian town of Caravaca de la Cruz hosted for three days an edition of the Spanish Championships that will take a long time to forget. The prevailing heat and the demanding circuits for the time trials and the road races, a 16-kilometre route with a two-kilometre climb to the Alto del Caracolillo, which had to be completed in a number of laps depending on the category in the competition, stood out.

The Idemticos project of the Contador Foundation was generously represented by its ambassadors in Murcia by the Madrid cycling team, which called for this competition Gonzalo García (MT1), Carlos Javier Mozos (MC1) and Alejandro Montero (MC3); José Manuel Dosdad (MC4) and Raúl Vallinot (MC3), who competed on their own, were other riders present.

García managed to close the competition with a victory in both the road and road races. Álex Montero finished fifth in his category in both the road race and the time trial and Carlos Javier Mozos finished fourth in both. ‘Particularly I was very happy with the two fifth places, especially because this year both the participation and the level have increased a lot’, said Montero. ‘The hardest Spanish championship ever’, said José Manuel Dosdad.
