En Bici promotes physical activity in the Orpea Pinto II residence because the World Bike Day

Although its celebration within the Contador Foundation began on Saturday, June 1, with the promotion of a playful-solidary-recreational day with the help of the Plaza Éboli Shopping Centre, this World Bicycle Day 2024 also saw the celebration of a new action with the bicycle as a backdrop.

On 3 June, the official date in accordance with the United Nations, the institution’s En Bici project carried out a training day at the Orpea 2 retirement home in Pinto, an action that was guided by the instructor of the Plaza Éboli Cycling Academy and trainer of the Foundation’s sports teams Javier Cebolla.

The idea of this talk was to reinforce the role of the bicycle, including stationary bikes, as a very interesting tool for maintaining an active lifestyle. The benefit of the action of pedalling, also at low intensity. But above all, the importance of physical activity, whatever it may be. Although some users of the centre have more restricted mobility, which prevents, conditions or even discourages this activity, all the participants agreed on the suitability of maintaining as active a lifestyle as possible.

‘The aim, above all, is to encourage them to do as much physical activity as possible, within their means, and we have conveyed to them why it is very important for their health and the benefits it brings to our bodies. We had a very interested audience in the subject and in a more cycling section, one of the participants shared with us his competitive past. He told us about his experiences with Federico Martín Bahamontes and how, on some occasions, he and his team used to ride in the trucks. Those were different times”, says Javier Cebolla.
