Great success of participation in the VI Fundación Contador Cycling Academies Race
Under unbeatable weather conditions, with very pleasant temperatures at the beginning that with the passing of the hours gave way to an intense heat, the traditional circuit of the district of La Tenería in Pinto hosted this Sunday a new edition, the sixth, of the Alberto Contador Foundation Cycling Academy Race. More than two hundred and a half cyclists, divided between the federated races (153) and the popular ones (100) met in the streets of Pinto to enjoy a great cycling morning under the organization of the Escuela de Ciclismo Plaza Éboli.
The event, the last scoring event for the school cycling calendar of the Federación Madrileña de Ciclismo, had again a great attendance from outside the Community of Madrid. Cycling Academies representatives from A Coruña, Ávila, Cáceres, Badajoz, Burgos, Cádiz, Ciudad Real, Guadalajara, Huelva, León, Pamplona, Salamanca, Seville, Toledo, Valladolid and even Fuerteventura were among the participants, with the largest representation, of course, coming from Madrid.
The Rodríguez Magro Cycling School of Alcalá de Henares was crowned the best team of the day. Ainhoa Lara (Club Ciclista Izozmendi) and Cristian Manuel Oliveira (Stream Bike) were the winners in the Infantil category, while in the Alevín category the winners were Noelia Encinar (Escuela de Ciclismo Rodríguez Magro) and Miguel Tizón (Escuela de Ciclismo Rodríguez Magro). In Beginners the victories went to Marina Carpio (Ciudad de Parla) and Matvii Henus (Stream Bike), with Cristian Martín (Escuela Plaza Éboli) and Daniela Villanueva (Escuela de Ciclismo Rodríguez Magro) winning in the Promise category.
“It has been an edition that has exceeded our most optimistic forecasts in terms of participation, especially in the popular races, and that organisationally has developed without major incidents, except for the fall that occurred during the first lap of the Children’s race after which one of the boys from the Club Ciclista Izozmendi ended up being taken to hospital as a precaution”, says Álvaro García, director of the Escuela Plaza Éboli. “In the end we found ourselves with a waiting list of dozens of kids to attend the popular race and this encourages us to continue working in the future to promote this type of proposal that we believe has a pioneering point within the Community of Madrid”.
Alberto Contador: “The most important thing is that the children have enjoyed a beautiful day in which on this occasion we have been accompanied by good weather. Thank you very much to all the families for their efforts, coming to participate with all that it entails is a big effort, but it is very clear to them that every minute in sport that their children spend is really very positive for them and their future life. We parents will always do anything for our children. Many have told me how they have organised the weekend, how they have prepared everything and, to be honest, on behalf of all the children, and on behalf of the entire Foundation, we thank them”.
Salomón Aguado, Mayor of Pinto, did not want to miss the race and was one of those in charge of presenting the trophies at the awards ceremony afterwards: “Pinto is a very cycling city, cycling has many fans and users among our neighbours, and for our town it is an honour to have a race like this School Race promoted by the Contador Foundation that adds and continues with its identity and has already been held for six editions. From here I would like to thank, congratulate and thank all those who have made the effort to be here on such a hot day. Special thanks go to the volunteers and the local police, who ensured the smooth running of the day”.
The sixth edition of the Fundación Alberto Contador Cycling Academy Race has the support of the Pinto City Council, the Plaza Éboli Shopping Centre, the E.Leclerc hypermarket company, the Éboli Gastro Restaurant, the Sercotel Princesa Éboli, the Coffe Bar Emalú and the bicycle company Aurum Bikes.
