Pozuelo de Alarcón Town Council collects 23 bicycles for Bicis para la Vida

The Town Hall received half a thousand donations in the Christmas toy collection campaign. A total of 25 volunteers have been in charge of preparing the items, which have already begun to be delivered to disadvantaged families. As a novelty this year, used bicycles have also been accepted and will be given to the Alberto Contador Foundation ‘Bicis para la Vida’ (Bikes for Life).

The City Council of Pozuelo de Alarcón has received half a thousand donations during the Christmas toy collection campaign that has been developed, in collaboration with the Mano a Mano Association, between 21 December and 13 January. The mayoress, Susana Pérez Quislant, went to CUBO Espacio Joven, where the delivery was centralised and where 25 volunteers, residents of Pozuelo and also from the company Amazon, were in charge of sorting and preparing the toys for distribution.

Of the material collected in this sixth edition, City Council staff distributed 32 boxes between 29 and 30 December to the Hogar Villa Paz, Hogar Buen Consejo and Residencia de Madres Solteras Manuel Herranz Esclavas de la Virgen Dolorosa centres in Pozuelo. The social workers have delivered another 35 boxes to underprivileged families in the municipality. A total of 304 boxes went to the Mano a Mano Association, which distributed them in the Pozo del Tío Raimundo on the 29th and 30th of December. In addition, the toys that cannot be packed due to their large dimensions (120 kitchenettes, dolls’ cradles, scalextric and prams, 10 skateboards, 16 tricycles and 7 motorbikes) will be distributed in collaboration with Iberia to Peru and Guatemala. As a novelty this year, 23 used bicycles have also been collected and will be given to the Alberto Contador Foundation “Bicis para la Vida” (Bikes for Life).

“We must thank those who have once again collaborated in this campaign, making many children happy and giving a second life to those toys that had been forgotten in the cupboard”, stressed the mayoress after this visit in which she was accompanied by the councillor for Youth, Almudena Ruiz, and by representatives of the Mano a Mano Association and the Alberto Contador Foundation.
