Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA reorganises its bike collection system to speed up logistics
The implementation of measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus has kept the work of the Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA project on ‘stand-by’. Although it has been possible to receive donations, no deliveries have been made. These have been exceptional days in which the priorities have changed at a social level, a meeting point for commitment, awareness and confidence in the great professionals who make up the state health system.
At the same time, however, work has continued on planning the next actions of the project that will take place once the new normality returns to daily life.
The first major novelty comes from a change in the logistical development of the project. Until now, the entire network of ŠKODA dealers has also served as a collection point for donated bicycles, but from now on this will not be the case in order to speed up this part of the logistics.
The Czech automobile company, the Seur Foundation and the Alberto Contador Foundation continue their intense collaboration in the development of the project and its visibility, but from now on it will be the SEUR centers spread throughout the Iberian geography, the Balearic and Canary Islands archipelagos and also the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla that will centralize all the reception of donations and will later be in charge of sending them to the Foundation’s facilities in Pinto for their fine-tuning.
So far this year, Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA has donated 55 bicycles distributed in three deliveries that have taken place in the Severo Ochoa Special Education Centre in Alcorcón (Madrid region), the San Sebastian headquarters of the Guipuzcoa Association of Relatives and People with Mental Health Problems (Gipuzkoa) and the association Aid for Groups at Risk of Social Exclusion in Tortosa (Tarragona).
“We are delighted to continue collaborating, with our economic support, and with our involvement at the communication level, but we are taking a step back in the management of collections. Let’s leave the collection/logistics 100% in the hands of SEUR, the repair and distribution 100% in the hands of Fundación Contador and ŠKODA, apart from sponsoring and co-financing the project, will be dedicated to giving a boost in communication and ‘expansion’ of the message (also through our network)”, says from ‘KODA’ his Sponsoring & Event Manager, Joan Massallé.
