Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort hosts EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team’s pre-season training camp before the start of the season
The facilities of Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort, and more specifically the residential complex of Las Dunas, has officially hosted since Wednesday 13th January the second meeting of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team’s project 2022. The Valencian enclave, usual stopover of the first pedalling of the project in the last seasons, has welcomed a bubble for the generation of which precautions have been taken in order to avoid COVID-19 infections.
Testing and fine-tuning of material, definition of calendars, photographic sessions with sponsors and telematic meetings with the media were some of the commitments that the cyclists had to face during these days in addition to the planned work sessions. The routes of the regions of La Safor and La Marina Alta, the usual mecca for a large number of pre-season cycling formations, are once again an unbeatable setting for the work of approaching the top level of competition.
In fact, the pandemic has left its mark on the planned calendar, as the ProTeam structure of the Fundación Alberto Contador was going to debut for the first time on the Argentinean routes of the Vuelta a San Juan, eight days of intense cycling between January and February, but the epidemiological situation in the area led to the cancellation of the race.
The competitive debut of this new year, however, will take place on 23 January, in the Clásica Comunitat Valenciana 1969. Afterwards, in a very Spanish calendar, the team will race the Challenge de Mallorca (between Wednesday 26 and Sunday 30 January), the Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia (12 February), the Clásica de Almería (13 February), the new Jaén Paraíso Interior (14 February), the Vuelta a Andalucía (16 to 20 February) and the also new O Gran Camiño (24 to 27 February). The debut on Italian territory will come with the Trofeo Laigueglia, on Wednesday 2 March.
