Between Oliva and Pinto: Fundación Contador teams hold their first pre-season training camps
Intense activity during these last two weeks of the different concentrations that have developed the sports structures of the Contador Foundation in Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort (Valencia), in the case of the ProTeam and U23 teams, and in the Sercotel Princesa Éboli and the Escuela de Ciclismo Plaza Éboli of Pinto (Madrid), in the case of the U19 team.
In Valencian territory, with the roads of La Safor and La Marina Alta as an unbeatable setting, and over a dozen days, the first meeting of a revamped ProTeam squad has taken place, which in 2023 will be made up of Vincenzo Albanese, Mattia Bais, Davide Bais, Simone Bevilacqua and Simone Bevilacqua, Simone Bevilacqua, Alessandro Fancellu, Erik Fetter, Lorenzo Fortunato, Andrea Garosio, Francesco Gavazzi, Giovanni Lonardi, Alex Martín, David Martín, Mirco Maestri, Andrea Pietrobon, Davide Piganzoli, Simone Raccani, Samuele Rivi, Javi Serrano Diego Pablo Sevilla and Fernando Tercero.
Also in Oliva was present, less days, but sharing spaces and facilities, an EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team U23 whose project 2023 will be composed by Edoardo Alleva, Luca Bagnara, Gabriele Bessega, Tommaso Bessega, Ramón Fernández, Álex García, Arnau Gilabert, Antonio González, Haimar Etxeberria, Raúl López, Sebastiano Minoia, Andrea Montoli, Fran Muñoz, Gabriele Raccagni and Pablo Uría.
The Sercotel Princesa de Éboli in the Madrid town of Pinto has hosted for three days the first pre-season training camp of the eleventh project in the U19 category of the Fundación Contador. A project composed in 2023 by Gerard Cano, Daniel Díaz, Iker Díaz, Miguel Domínguez, Balint Feldhoffer, Samuel Flórez, Héctor García, Mario Gómez, Pablo Leno, Iván Loaisa, Alvar Martín, Balasz Pollner, Iván Polo, Hugo Pradas and Manuel Sanroma.
“Both the professionals and the U23 structure need to do much more specific work in their preseasons in preparation for the following season, a work that presents longer distances in terms of mileage and duration and that requires, as far as possible, a mild climate and an orography that allows for varied work. This, without a doubt, is what we have in Oliva. In Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort we have the best conditions to work, we feel at home. In fact, we have just renewed our partnership until 2026, so we feel very fortunate because it is a luxury to have the support of Oliva Nova and Luis Borho”, says Fran Contador, general manager of the teams.
“The training camps in December are fundamental for the squads, regardless of the category,” continues Contador. “In the case of the U19 team, it makes more sense that the meeting allows the boys to spend more time together and start to get to know each other, we are talking about a very new squad, and they can also get to know the dynamics of our way of working because they come from other projects. And for the youth category we think that there is no better place than our home, in Pinto, in perfect facilities such as the Hotel Princesa Éboli and those of our Plaza Éboli Cycling Academy, and with roads that we know perfectly, safe, very cycling-friendly and that are ideal to start working with the kids”.
