Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA delivers fifteen bicycles in Ciudad Real and ten in Granada
The Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA project of the Contador Foundation travelled this weekend to Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia to distribute twenty-five bicycles that will receive a second life thanks to the initiatives of two associations.
The first stop for the ‘bluegreenorange’ van driven by Ángel López, the project’s logistics manager, was in Ciudad Real. There it visited the Cepaim Foundation, the beneficiary of fifteen bicycles that will be used in its programme for the management of eleven reception flats for asylum seekers and refugees.
The bikes will make it easier for the refugees to move around the favourable terrain of the capital of La Mancha. “Sport is a great ally in the reception process, and those who know me know that there is no better sport than cycling”, says Nacho Gómez, coordinator of centres in Cepaim and a great lover of cycle touring.
Afterwards, the van headed towards the province of Granada, bound for the Nasrid capital. There, the friends of the Canasteros Social Centre, one of the centres of the Andalusian Public Foundation for the Social Integration of People with Mental Illness (FAISEM) in Granada, were waiting for them.
With the donation of ten bicycles, the Canasteros Social Centre will be able to further the implementation of initiatives and activities that allow and deepen the prevention of marginalisation and maladjustment of people affected by serious mental illness.
