Bicis para la Vida by Škoda donates ten bikes to the Centro Trama Association and supports the 2024 Olimpiadas Urbanas Vallecanas

The Bicis para la Vida by Škoda project of the Contador Foundation travelled this Thursday afternoon to the Vallecas neighbourhood to deliver ten bicycles to the Centro Trama Association. This historic organisation, whose roots go back to the mid-80s of the last century in the commitment and dedication of a group of young residents willing to act to change the course of things, has been developing for four decades different leisure and free time activities and initiatives with people at risk of social exclusion. A tangible, real and proactive alternative to some of the dangers that have always lurked in the street and marginality.

Centro Trama, an association since 1991, now works in various geographical areas of both the Community of Madrid and Spain (Principality of Asturias, Galicia, Canary Islands, Autonomous City of Melilla), but the District of Puente de Vallecas has some special affective characteristics for the institution as its initial activity was developed (and has been so ever since) in several of its neighbourhoods, such as La Villa, Entrevías, San Fermín, San Cristóbal or Pozo del Huevo. The donated bicycles are immediately incorporated into Centro Trama’s educational projects and leisure plans, but not in their entirety. There will be one exception for reasons of solidarity.

The team of the Street Education programme of the Puente de Vallecas Social Services department, an organisation managed by Centro Trama that works from a gender perspective in an open environment for the prevention and treatment of situations of risk and social conflict among minors and adolescents, organises and promotes the Olimpiadas Urbanas Vallecanas (Vallecan Urban Olympics).

In the context of this event, which is celebrating its third edition between 11 and 17 March, a popular raffle will be held for this bicycle, the proceeds of which will go to social projects. The raffle will be held on Saturday 16th March during the concerts organised in these Olympics and, as a fundamental requirement, the winner of the raffle must be present in the audience at that moment; otherwise, the raffle will continue. The Olimpiadas Populares Vallecanas propose an interesting agenda of sporting and cultural events with a very urban prism that will take place in spaces such as the Peña Gorbea Boulevard, the José Durán Sports Facility or the Río Esmeralda Multi-purpose Centre.
