Bicis para la Vida, En Bici and Idemticos converge at the Duque de Ahumada School in Valdemoro
The Duque de Ahumada Special Education Centre, located in the neighbourhood of La Estación de Valdemoro and with a school community that includes students from this town and other neighbouring ones, such as Pinto or Ciempozuelos, received this Thursday the visit of an expedition of the Fundación Alberto Contador with the participation of its projects Bicis para la Vida by Škoda, En Bici and Idemticos.
Bicis para la Vida delivered five conventional bicycles and two stationary bicycles, as well as two rollers and a pump, donated by the sports structures promoted by the Foundation and Moma Bikes. All this material has been donated to the centre for the development of its different projects and initiatives in which the bicycle plays a key role. Marcos Jiménez, director of the centre, is a great fan of this sport and has always incorporated the bicycle into all the activities in which he has been involved in his professional career. On a more personal note, his son Eleazar is competing this season in the Foundation’s U19 structure, while Daniel has become a professional and in recent years has competed in the Galician Élite&U23 Team Froiz.
At the same time, with the aim of setting up a programme to encourage the development of adapted cycling, the Foundation’s Idemticos project has loaned out a handbike and one of the tandems that form part of its fleet of adapted bikes for the promotion of these disciplines. This loan of material will last until next July.
Raúl Vallinot, in a very concentrated session, has been in charge of introducing a large representation of students from the centre to the particularities and characteristics of adapted cycling, as well as some theoretical and practical aspects.
Henar García, head of the social area of the institution, Raúl Vallinot, ambassador of the Idemticos project, and Ángel López, head of logistics of Bikes for Life, were in charge of visiting this modern educational centre which opened its doors for the current school year at the beginning of September.
This centre, located in a fully accessible building, has two classrooms for Infant Education, twelve classrooms for Compulsory Basic Education and three for the Professional Workshops stage which, following the modification that comes into force this academic year, has extended the age of permanence for those students who attend this stage to 22 years of age.
