Bicis para la Vida makes a new delivery of solidarity bikes
This new delivery of bikes took place on Wednesday 11 May 2016 at the Public School of Infant and Primary Education Campohermoso Humanes in Madrid.
25 children’s mountain bikes were donated with the aim of supporting the project to promote cycling and specifically for students who want to learn to ride a bike and did not have that possibility. In addition, these bicycles will allow educational outings to be scheduled, thus helping to spread a culture of cycling among the pupils of CEIP Campohermoso. In short, it is a way of generating educational resources, promoting sport and raising awareness through the bicycle.
The delivery was attended by professional staff and volunteers from the AMP Association linked to the Bicis para la Vida project, together with the bicycle mechanics in training Cesar, Noe, Isaac and Sergio, users of the AMP Occupational Centre “cuarentainueve”, who actively collaborate in the reception and set-up of the bicycles.
The transport of the bicycles was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the company Puysoncar, located in C/ Manresa 4 in Pinto, which provided the vehicle with which the delivery could be made so that the children of the school could receive the long awaited bicycles.
This is not the first time that the AMP Association has visited CEIP Campohermoso, as some time ago, an informative talk on the Bicis para la Vida project was given by the mechanics in training, which allowed the youngest students to learn about the whole process that the bicycles go through, from their reception, assessment and tuning, to the delivery for their new life.
However, the reception on this occasion was different, Cristina, the physical education teacher and promoter of the request, had a surprise in store for us together with the children in the fourth year, in which the rest of their colleagues from the teaching staff also collaborated. The presentation was accompanied by a poem of thanks to Bicis para la Vida which they had worked on in class during the previous days and which was recited in the school playground, without doubt a special moment which was accompanied by several songs which added a musical touch to the event.
We are increasingly convinced of how positive it is to work in a community and collaborative way, that solidarity makes us grow as people and that a bike can change many lives.
