Fundación Alberto Contador and Mirasur School join forces to promote the values of sport and solidarity
Mirasur School and Fundación Alberto Contador have signed this Wednesday a collaboration agreement in their joint effort to promote fundamental values such as effort, self-improvement and teamwork among the students of the school, as well as the promotion of sports in Pinto.
The agreement promotes the organisation of events, motivational talks and training programmes among the students of Mirasur School, as well as joint solidarity actions to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable people. The two-time Tour de France and Giro d’Italia champion and three-time Vuelta a España champion, Alberto Contador, and the director of Mirasur School, Pedro Sampedro, signed the agreement on Wednesday at the school’s facilities.
“Cycling teaches us the importance of effort. That crashing is not the end, but an opportunity to get up stronger. Because learning to get up after a fall not only strengthens character, but also teaches us the valuable lesson that failure is not permanent, but an opportunity to learn and grow,” said the legendary cyclist from Pínteno during the signing ceremony.
“The capacity for self-improvement and resilience that sports such as cycling promote are crucial aspects in the development of an individual. At Mirasur School we strive to cultivate these values in our students, promoting activities that encourage self-improvement and the ability to face challenges,” adds Pedro Sampedro.
The headmaster was also enthusiastic about this collaboration: “We are thrilled to partner with the foundation of one of the most important Spanish sportsmen in our history, Alberto Contador, to promote these values”.
As a result of this agreement, the first edition of the Marcha Solidaria en Bicicleta, a popular event to be held on Saturday 20 April in the town, will be held with the collaboration of the Pinto City Council. Registrations for this ride, which will raise funds for child cancer, can be made from 15 March. All the information about the walk will be available on social networks and on the organisers’ websites soon.
