Italy’s Vincenzo Albanese wins the fourth and final stage of the Tour du Limousin after a brilliant move near the finishing line

Tour du Limousin
Stage 4: Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre – Limoges (175,1 km)

… And then came the big day in the last stage of the Tour du Limousin. After very good performances last season and this season, with numerous top10 and top5 places, Italian rider Vincenzo Albanese made a well-deserved debut in the last stage of the Tour du Limousin, the same stage where he finished second in 2021. Albanese led an attack in the last two kilometres and managed to arrive with a minimal gap over a very fast peloton in which Alex Aramburu (Movistar) was fighting to defend his lead in the final general classification. Albanese had already been second this year in two stages of the Vuelta a Asturias and third in a stage of the Giro d’Italia or the Trofeo Calvia of the Challenge de Mallorca. Until his victory on Friday, the Italian had accumulated 18 places in the top ten this season. It was only a matter of time.
