The En Bici Project returns to the classrooms at El Olivo high school in Parla

Students in the fourth year of ESO of the Institute of Secondary Education and Vocational Training El Olivo in the Madrid town of Parla have hosted this Thursday the activities of the En Bici project of the Contador Foundation. En Bici is an educational activity that, among other actions, seeks to encourage the use of bicycles as a means of transport and sustainable leisure.

Javier Cebolla, technician of the Plaza Éboli Cycling Academy and physical trainer of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, has been in charge of giving a class on the bicycle, its functioning and its typologies and how to carry out a minimum essential maintenance, a task that has also involved some small practices.

“It has been a very pleasant morning, the boys have been very attentive,” says Cebolla about the experience.

Paco Romero, general director of the Contador Foundation, gave a presentation on the activities carried out by this institution, focusing especially on the work of Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA and how a bicycle can change our world much more than we think.

“We were really looking forward to being able to revive the En Bici project, which has been on hold for a couple of years due to circumstances that we all know about. It is a very nice project, with very relevant social implications and which allows us to approach it in processes and campaigns. The kids are sponges and are very interested in social issues and sustainability. In the next few days the kids from this school will come to learn about the Bikes for Life workshop and the work of the AMP kids, and later Alberto will visit their school to be interviewed by them as part of a much broader curricular project,” says Romero.
