The World Bicycle Day celebrations promoted by Plaza Éboli Mall and the FundaciónContador attract hundreds of participants

Even the weather wanted to join in. With a small respite in the intense heat of the last few days, with somewhat lower and more bearable temperatures much more suitable for the practice of physical activity, the World Bicycle Day co-promoted by the Plaza Éboli Shopping Centre and the Contador Foundation was developed with a remarkable participation in all the proposed activities. Hundreds of people, adults and children, did not want to miss a playful and festive day around the bike whose registration was entirely destined to the projects against stroke of the Red Cross centre for Pinto and Valdemoro to the initiative Bicis para la Vida.

The indoor cycling sessions of Nine Fitness Sport Club, moved to the esplanade outside the shopping centre, and the group bike rides in the nearby Municipal Park, supervised by the Plaza Éboli Cycling School, were among the most popular activities. The gym provided the materials for the former, while the Bicis para la Vida project provided some of the bikes awaiting an imminent second life so that those without a saddle could take part in the rides. The School used the infrastructure it employs in the events of the Madrid Cycling Federation’s school calendar to set up a small skill circuit to test the riding skills of all those who were up for it.

The AMP Association was in charge of presenting its projects, as well as supervising a mechanics workshop; the stand of Pinto en Verde, the project shared by SEO/Birdlife and the city council, for its part, went in depth in the dissemination of its firm objective of achieving a greener, more biodiverse, healthier, inclusive city that contributes to reconnecting citizens with nature. The Red Cross was also present with a tent providing information about its various activities.

The Pinto Bike Day 2024 is sponsored by the Obra Social de Caixabank, the innovative lighting company Cinelux and the equipment and material firm for gyms and sports spaces Fitness Deluxe. Also sponsoring the development of this pioneering initiative in Pinto were the companies Fermisa Producción Gráfica and the local centre of the E.Lelerc hypermarket chain. It should be remembered that, officially, the International Bicycle Day designated by the United Nations General Assembly in April 2018 corresponds to 3 June. However, this earlier date allows and facilitates the generation of synergies.
