Tommaso Bessega wins a heartfelt victory in Logroño in memory of Arturo Grávalos

Just over a year ago, in the early hours of 19 May 2023, the young cyclist Arturo Grávalos passed away in Zaragoza due to a brain tumour he had been fighting since 2021. A professional with the then EOLO-KOMETA, his still mourned loss was a shock for the whole cycling world, because Arturo was a vital, enthusiastic and very cheerful person. The Riojan Cycling Federation launched the first edition of the Arturo Grávalos Memorial in 2023, which returned to the roads on the first day of June 2024. And it did so with a sprint victory by the Italian Tommaso Bessega. In 2023 his brother Gabriele finished second. Winning this Clásica de La Rioja had become one of the major objectives of the U23 structure, purely as a matter of respect and gratitude towards his figure. Tommaso, after a day of hard work, made this small tribute with a lot of meaning for all the sports structures of the Contador Foundation.
