Bicis para la Vida by Škoda, with the Guadalajara´s Integral Center for Gender Violence

The van of the Bicis para la Vida by Škoda project of the Contador Foundation travelled this Friday to the province of Guadalajara to make a donation of material to the Centre for Gender Violence in the provincial capital; an institution is managed by the Opañel Women’s Association.

This delivery of bicycles is part of the collaboration with Avis Rent a Car in the framework of the last edition of International Women’s Day, which took place in March. At that time, AMP volunteers gave a mechanics workshop to their female employees. Although the bikes were initially going to be donated to an association located in Villaverde, in the end they will be destined for Alcarria.

There have been six bicycles, three for adults and three for children, which the head of the social area, Henar García, and the project’s logistics manager, Ángel López, have deposited in the hands of the centre’s managers. This material will be used in the workshops, programmes and activities promoted by the centre to support women and their offspring who need it.

This facility, a reference within its geographical area, offers care, legal and employment advice; legal, psychological and social support; and, in different areas, help. The bicycles are an additional resource to promote the empowerment, autonomy and physical and mental well-being of those affected.

The ten Women’s Centres and the three Shelter Resource Centres in the province of Guadalajara worked with almost a thousand women victims of gender violence during 2023. Between January and November, these centres received up to 1,837 consultations.
