CEIP Isabel La Católica raises 1.224 euros for the Fundación Alberto Contador and its projects

The CEIP Isabel la Católica de Pinto has raised 1.224 euros among families and teachers who are part of the school community, an amount that will go to the Contador Foundation in full and that has been collected in late January in the framework of the Popular Race organized by the centre as part of its participation in the Day of Non-Violence and Peace.

The solemn act of delivery of the collection was held this first Friday of March 2024 in the facilities of the centre, the same where the children of the Contador Velasco family, led by Alberto Contador, once studied in primary school. María de las Nieves Blanco, director of the centre and who was already part of its organisation in those days of schooling, embodied the symbolic delivery of the amount collected to Francisco Javier Contador, secretary of the Foundation that bears his brother’s name, and Henar García, head of the social area of the institution.

“Every year we organise a charity race at the school for which we look for sponsors, who can be parents, relatives, neighbours… For each lap the children complete, a donation is made. And all the money raised is donated to an NGO, preferably from Pinto. We try, through this action, to make the students aware of the work done by non-profit organisations. This year the funds go to the Alberto Contador Foundation, whose work is highly beneficial for everyone. And what’s more, in this case we are talking about a former student of the school,” says Blanco.

“For us it is a very special day, because we are returning to our school. I have fond memories of those days and of my time at Isabel la Católica. It has been more than thirty years since then. School is an important time, it is something that marks our lives on many levels. If I think of the school, very beautiful memories come to mind. All the siblings came and went to school together. And here we made friendships that are still with us, here we received an education and values that are still with us and, in short, here many of the foundations for our future were laid. Nieves continues, day by day, to work for the future of all the students. A commendable task, with a wonderful commitment and dedication. I have vivid memories of her French classes: every Friday she gave us verb and vocabulary tests. Thinking about the school brings back very nice memories and I am especially excited to go back to school”, says Fran Contador.

This very generous donation from the school community will go entirely to the solidarity and educational projects promoted and supervised by the Foundation, such as Bicis para la Vida, Idemticos and En Bici. CEIP Isabel la Católica was precisely one of the last stops for the latter, in close synergy with Idemticos: last December it took part in the seventh edition of the Awareness Day on functional diversity that is held every year in this Madrid school for its infant and primary school pupils.
