Representation of the Foundation in the Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza: “They have been very nice days of cycling”

An expedition of the sports area that promotes the Contador Foundation led by Alberto Contador himself went to the paradise island of Ibiza to participate, between Thursday 12 October and Sunday 15, in the twentieth edition of the Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza. The Balearic event, three days of authentic cycle touring where professionals, amateurs, regular cyclists, brave cyclists wanting to test themselves, future professionals, ex-professionals and adapted riders of both sexes, brought together a peloton of six hundred cyclists.

“It has been a very beautiful day of cycling, we have been able to enjoy the roads of Ibiza, incredible places, spectacular views where we have stopped to take pictures, and the timed sections for those who wanted to push. A few authentic days of cycling: our passion,” said Contador himself at the finish in Sant Antoni de Portmany.

The occasion was used by the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation to present three of the four youth riders who will be promoted to the U23 team next season. Sergio Calvo, Gerard Cano and Manu Sanroma shared pedal strokes with Álex García, Antonio González and also with the brothers Alberto and Fran Contador. Óscar Pereiro, Alejandro Valverde, Miguel Indurain and Ricardo Ten were other illustrious participants in this festive edition of the race. Quite an experience.

Ana Salas, rider from Madrid enrolled in the category Master 30, joked after the third stage: “Yesterday I got behind the EOLO-KOMETA guys, they started to pull and I said ‘there I go with them until the end’. It was amazing. I ended up coming second in my category”. Sergio Calvo climbed up to the final podium of the testimonial final classification with his third place in the overall absolute and first in the overall men’s junior category.
